Tratos in Europe
About Tratos Cavi
TRATOS was founded as a wire drawing company in 1966 and later transformed into a producer of telephone cables.
In 1978 we began the production of instrumentation cables and in 1980 we changed our name to TRATOS CAVI SPA. With the development of new technologies in special cables we expanded our product range into thermoplastic insulation, elastomeric materials and cross-linked polyethylene, with low emission of fumes, toxic gasses and flame retardant.
TRATOS CAVI has specially equipped laboratories where a qualified team of technicians work and acknowledge the importance of the designing and research of new products as well as quality control.
All of the above components enable TRATOS to offer a seamless operation from the drawing of the copper conductor to cable completion thus keeping every part of the manufacturing process under control and ensuring strict quality and delivery parameters are adhered to.
TRATOS Cavi have completed the building and commissioning of their 6 million euro extension at the Pieve Santo Stefano site in Arezzo, Italy. This will house their new Continuous Vulcanisation line for the completely dry curing of polymeric High Voltage cables up to 132Kv.

A supplier of specialist cables, Tratos are always seeking to work with customers to find better, more environmentally friendly solutions to their challenges, one of our greatest strengths is the ability to tailor solutions to customers needs.
Tratos have supplied cables for use in AMP systems, to minimize emissions from ships in port, cables for alternative energy including TratosEolo for wind farms throughout Europe, and TratosIcarus for Solar installations. Tratos have also developed cables with increased pulling tension, allowing easier electrification of diesel RTG cranes.
For many years we have worked on producing cables without halogens, to provide protection for people working with our cables, and the environment.
Since 1980 Tratos has been using clean renewable energy from its own hydroelectric plant. In 2001 Tratos started producing “TratosGreen/Tratosflex”, a cable made using only hydroelectric energy. Our high voltage facility also incorporates a solar power supply.
Since 1988 Tratos have had a policy of recycling and are currently working on using scrap to supply clean energy via pyrolysis.
