TRATOS HELPS PROTECT WIMBLEDON CENTRE COURT
29 July 2009
Tratos Ltd., the UK distribution subsidiary of electrical cable manufacturer Tratos Cavi Spa. of Italy, is pleased to announce its Firesafe TW950 cable has been used extensively throughout Centre Court at Wimbledon as part of the voice evacuation and fire alarm system.
Wimbledon’s famous Central Court has recently been refurbished and fitted with a new retractable roof which has been much publicised. As part of that extensive refurbishment, 20,000m of Tratos’ Firesafe TW950 fire resistant cable has been installed, from 2 to 27 core in size. The cable was selected for this installation because of its off the shelf availability and the attractive price point.
Firesafe TW950 is a 300volt/500volt cable operating across a temperature range of -40°C to +90°C. LPC and BASEC approved, it has been designed to meet the latest standards for fire detection and alarm systems in BS5839 Part 1 standard grade and for use in emergency lighting BS5266 Part 1 and is manufactured and tested to BS7629. The cable features Plain Annealed Copper Conductors, Tinned Annealed Copper Drain Wire, Silicone Insulation, Electrostatic Screen and Thermoplastic LSZH Sheath.
In addition to famous tennis courts (!), Firesafe TW950 applications include public buildings, schools, hospitals, department stores, cinemas, hotels, theatres, computer centres etc. It has already been incorporated in many projects including St Pancras Rail Terminal.
FIRESAFE TW950 cable forms part of Tratos’ extensive range of cables.
